Christmas time

We had a great Christmas. We stayed home and had our own christmas until around noon. I gave Josh a guitar. He has been wanting one for a long time. He gave me my long awaited coat rack and an expensive gift card for an expensive store. I got great things with it today. :) We gave Porter a whole bunch of toys. He loved opening the presents. His new word is "cool". All day long was full of little Porter saying cool to everything. Every rip. Every toy. It was really fun to see it!
Then we went to my parents house. We gave them a game that we had a BLAST playing! They gave us all books and a really cool family book. My mom had designed her own book, with our wedding pictures. I love the book! I am so glad that my family lives close and that we can spend holiday's with everyone. Dave and Veancha couldn't make it this year. (I totally understand). I really miss each of them. ALOT! Then we went to Christensens house. We played some guitar hero, gave and got some gifts. They gave us a couple of games and Porter got a nice learning book. They really went over board. :) It sure was fun though. Jer and Lacie were able to come up. I loved seeing them! They are such a cute family. Little Jac is sure a cute boy! We didn't get to play much with him. He's trying to stay healthy for his open heart surgery in a month. But I can't wait till we can give him loves. I wish they lived closer. I really enjoy their company. We also celebrated Cody's birthday. He is the big 21! Christmas day really was a fantastic and busy day.

Workin out

So I am posting to remind myself how much I really want to lose weight. I gained alot while I was pregnant (because of the preeclampsia). And now, I think it's all turned into fat....Anyway, Josh finally got a gym membership with me. I had a hard time getting anyone to go with me. (At the same gym anyway). It's so much easier to work out with someone even though we don't talk while we run and sweat! Josh and I went today together. It was great. I worked out harder than normal and feel wonderful. I really want to lose the weight but more importantly I want to be healthy. I just gotta keep telling myself that. :)

Porter turns 1!

It was Porter's birthday on the 5th. I haven't got to posting yet because we have been super sick at our house. We had a really fun party. We just invited family. It was really fun getting ready for the party. We decided on a cowboy theme. We got one of those wall art things (covers like 23 feet of wall, top to bottom) it looked like a desert. I made some western swinging doors out of cardboard. It looked totally cute. Porter loved the cake! It was so cute. Really fun day.
Daddy and Porter reading a new book

This wanted sign was part of our decoration. Everyone got their picture taken. Here is Uncle Colton.

Utah vs. BYU

We had my family over for the game. I have to say that I am SO happy that Utah won!! It is my and Josh's tradition (since we've been married) to decorate our Christmas tree in the color of who wins this game. The past two years it has been blue. This year it'll be RED!!

Thanksgiving

We got to go to Josh's side this year for Thanksgiving. We went to Ed and Linda's house. I had a really good time. I didn't take too many pictures, I'm mad about that, but I did get one cute one of me. (Josh got cut out...oops). It was fun to see everyone. They played basketball, had a pie eating contest, and played some flag football. We left a little earlier than everyone else because Porter was too tired. Everyone loved the little man. He was a ham all day. Just being a funny guy.

Here is Ed bringing in the turkey. He deep fried it. Barb and TriciaPat was tired after basketballSuch a sweet picture. Brittany and Dominic

Two years married

Josh and I got married Nov. 9th. It's already been two years! I am so happy that I met Josh. He makes me whole. He and I talked about it the other day and without words, we feel like we help each other reach the potential we know we have. I love him MORE every day! I am so happy that we can be together for eternity. I love him so much.

Cute pix

I love these pictures.

Porter is almost 11 months

Porter will turn 11 months old on the 5th! I can't believe it. He is growing so fast. There are a few things that I want to remember about him at this age.
  • has 5 Teeth and getting more
  • takes formula but still nursing
  • can crawl on hands and knees
  • is starting to Cruise
  • he gets into everything
  • whenever he wants to make you happy he will look at you and do touchdown and then clap
  • he says mommy and daddy
  • he is a VERY happy baby
  • he is starting to sleep through the night. (two nights in a row so far)
  • very interested in dogs....from a distance
  • opens and closes drawers
  • play play play is his motto
  • he does this annoying thing that when he knows that he is in trouble (like when he plays with the DVD player) he will look at you and laugh and then ignore you. It's a little funny, but not good
  • can drink out of sippy cups
  • talks/babbles all the time

We love our little man and we are so happy to have him in our lives.

Halloween Fun

We dressed up this year as Voldemort, Bellatrix and Harry Potter for Halloween this year. Porter made the cutest Potter. Josh had spent weeks on making his costume for Volemort. If you ask me it looks fantastic! It was really creepy.

Snow already...then gone

This last Sunday we got plastered with snow. Our power was out almost all night and then came on just enough to get ready for church and then was off till we got home from church. It was really COLD! It's already melted though. Crazy weather.

Hunting season

Josh has started hunting this season. He is really into hunting ducks and has been waiting for weeks to start. I think this is his first year....anyway, he went last Friday and got two ducks! His dad went with him and got one of his own.

Porter learned TOUCHDOWN

These are some cute videos of Porter. We taught him to make the sign for touchdown. SO cute!

Porter insisted

I was feeding Porter baby food the other day. He was being such a ham. :) I wanted to try feeding him baby lasagna. He really liked it. Especially after I figured out that he wanted it warmed up a bit. Hey, I am a new mom..... Anyway, he just insisted on feeding himself. I couldn't do anything to get him to eat off the spoon if I were holding it. So, I let him at it. These are the cute pictures I got of him in between me laughing my head off at my little oompa loompa. Needless to say, he really needed a bath.

Camping

We got to camp with the Christensen side of the family this last weekend. It was really fun. I found a place on the Wyoming-Utah border called Bridger Lake. It was a beautiful lake. Lily pads covered most of the lake with tons of fish! It wasn't too long of a drive, about 2 1/2 hours, but turned cold really fast. The warmest I think it was the whole time had to be only 55 or 60 at most. It was super cold. I'm really glad we packed like we were paranoid. :) We got to use our little 4 man blow up boat. That thing is really great! We did some fishing, although it wasn't much because Porter hates fishing. It was like every time we went Porter started yelling something like "Hey fish! My dad is trying to catch and eat you. So run away!" Fishing was impossible with an 8 month old. :) Pat was the only one who caught a fish. He was pretty excited about that. We got to see Moose up close. Male and Female together. It was AWESOME. Slightly scary since they were only like 50 yards close. But really cool! Porter loved to eat dirt, every time I turned around I had to hurry to wipe dirt out of his mouth. We forgot our snuggle. It's like a little strap-on holder for the baby. Made for babies. So we had to make our own. We just put Porter in a backpack that luckily we brought. It was actually really funny. Allot of our time was spent visiting around the campfire because it was so cold. It was a fantastic trip.

We Moved!!

We finally moved into our own place last weekend. We found a little place in Bountiful. We sure love it! It's a duplex with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's so cute! I love that it looks like my own little house. The other duplex is behind us, so it just looks like my house. We take care of the yard too. I can' t tell anyone how much it means to me to have our own place! I love it!!

24th of July

So much has happened in the time that I haven't posted. We had a family reunion with my dad's side of the family on the 24th of July. My brother and his family were able to come visit from New Orleans. It was awesome. They got sealed this trip too!! It was fabulous. They asked me to hold Kairi during the sealing too. Very sweet. I was really glad that they got to come out. I have actually really started bonding with Veancha. I am glad that we are finally starting to become friends. It's really important to me. They family reunion was really fun. Very hot, but super fun. The whole family was there excluding Blaine and his wife and Joe, and Tracy. But it was really fun. We went to a parade, ate tons of food, played in the yard, and just hung out. It's been a tradition for a long time to go on the 24th to Grandma Martindales and sleep outside and wake up to the sirens of the city.

These are pictures from Dave's sealing. It really was an awesome experience. It just made me glad that I didn't have to wait for it. I mean, that I got married in the temple and that porter was already sealed to us. It sure makes me happy to know that we can be together as husband and wife for forever. Plus the kids. :)

Shotgun Shooting

Last Saturday we got to go to the west desert and shoot Josh's shotgun. I had a blast! Although it was freakin hot out!! It was Josh, me, Porter and Josh's little brother Colton. We got a whole box of clay disks as our targets. And yes, we used them all. :) We also got ear muffs for Porters little ears. Adult size. He looked so darn cute!
He was asleep for the first part of the shooting but when he did wake up he liked it. Josh is a really good shot. He saw someone online throw 10 disks into the air and shoot them all before it hit the ground. That is his goal. Although he only got a couple. :) He still had fun and now has something to work on. Colton was obsessed with firing at a tree. Up close and personal. He said that he wanted to shoot it down. Crazy boy! I had an awesome time. I have only shot one other shotgun and a pistol. So this was pretty new for me. I love shooting. Nothing takes away stress like shooting into the open air. Since that is where most of my aims ended up. Our shotgun is a semi automatic. So it gets 5 shots in a row if you want. That was my favorite part. Shooting at a target 5 times in a row. Really super fun day!
